Question: 2008 sorento

My 2008 sorento was nice an quiet for the first 900 miles on the motor. Now it makes a sputtering noise or a humming that occurs on the passenger side of the vehicle that seems to eminate at times from the rear of the vehicle and at other times from the front of the vehicle. I've taken it to a dealer and they said that noise is normal for a kia. Why all of a sudden would it become loud? I'm very disappointed as it is not the same vehicle that i purchased. Please help.

Mine has been in three times for a similar problem. The District Service Manager rode with me to listen to it. So far they tried a "special" fluid in the transfer case, replaced the transfer case, did something with the p side rotor and are now awaiting a wheel bearing. It's not a wheel bearing. I don't know what it is, but that is not the solution.

Ours "rumbles" at 15-20 mph and 30-40 mph, and has gotten worse. We now hear it at highway speeds. I will give our local dealer credit; they are pursuing this problem without hesitation. If we find out what it is I will come back and post.

I'm going to crawl under and do some snooping. I still think there is something loose under the vehicle.

Here's the latest. I refused the wheel bearing and a motor mount solution.

It has now been explained as a "normal" exhaust noise that only bothers 5 people in the entire country. The new solution is to spray a special 3M sound insulation under the truck to deaden it.

I'll give it a shot. Having it done tomorrow morning. I'm not holding my breath...

The best part? When I first took it in (Last March I think) I told them I thought it was an exhaust system problem. Guess I'm smarter than all the Kia techs in the entire country.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
